Carolyn Haas is the co-lead pastor of Substance Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She and her husband, Peter, planted Substance in 2004 after having pastored for a decade in Wisconsin. Carolyn is passionate about church leadership, parenting and marriage.

Carolyn serves on the executive team at Substance and also serves on the board for One Hope. She travels the world encouraging and equipping church planters and pastors through the Association of Related Churches.

 FAQs

  • Childcare will not be provided during the conference. Our hope is that Chosen will be a time for you to “get away” and be free from distraction so you can receive all God has for you.

  • You can come just as you are, but you are welcome to bring a Bible, a notebook and a pen.

  • The attire is casual. We recommend a sweater or light jacket if you get cold easily.

  • There are no additional fees, and all food is included in your registration fee.

  • Chosen is one of our most popular events, so we highly recommend registering as soon as possible! We hope to see you there!

  • Absolutely! Church membership and completion of the Grow Plan are not required to attend the Chosen conference.

  • Absolutely. We strive to create a new, inspiring, and fun conference experience every year and don’t want you to miss out on this time to get away and be encouraged in your relationship with God!

  • Please do! Chosen is designed for the women of ITOWN and the women in their lives: friends, family, co-workers and neighbors.

  • Ladies of all ages are welcome! There will be women from every age range that attend, so everyone should feel comfortable.

    Topics that will be discussed are most appropriate for high school ages and above. Please note that there are Student Ministries retreats and conferences designed for junior high students that will be more age-appropriate and topic-specific for them.

  • We encourage the men of our church to serve during Chosen each year, so that each and every woman can fully experience the conference!

  • Thank you for understanding that all registrations are transferrable but non-refundable. Transfers are the responsibility of the two parties involved, and ITOWN does not arrange payment for transferred registrations or the exchange of wristbands/tickets.

    Upon arriving at the conference, check-in will occur under the name of the party that initially registered for the conference.
